    Job Summary

    The OD Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing project related tasks by interfacing with VOA Mid-States team members and specific Programs.  The OD Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the expectations of our internal clients are met by assisting in the development of comprehensive training plans to increase the overall effectiveness of the organization.  The OD Specialist must be knowledgeable of OD processes and available resources with the ability to discuss best practices and manage multiple projects at a given time.

    Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions

    The OD Specialist will be responsible for the following:

    • Assist in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of innovative, creative, cost-effective performance solutions. 

    • Analyze needs and collaborate to implement performance improvement solutions. 

      • Consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to research, document, and validate content.

      • Complete site visits and employee surveys by using appropriate assessment tools.

      • Assist supervisors and staff in interpreting the results.

    • Analyze employee feedback and performance data to measure, identify and eliminate performance gaps and assess where development and training may be needed to include: 

      • Strategizing with the Director of OD on the best ways to embed continuous employee learning into the agency’s corporate culture.

      • Identifying learning and training gaps along with areas of weakness.

    • Assist in conducting orientation sessions and the transition of new employees to VOA Mid-States to foster positive attitude towards and including a full understanding of organizational objectives.

    • Assist the OD Director with facilitation and development of leadership training.

    • Assist with set up of training room for OD Director and themselves prior to the start of training.

    • Create and maintain Onboarding Checklists for the different VOA Mid-States programs.

    • Coordinate and arrange:

      • VOA University: clinical training and clinical calendar

      • CPR scheduling, rooms and follow up to ensure certification

    • Design, Develop and implement VOA University: This program includes training for all members of VOA University. For example: Outlook, Word, Excel, Soft Skills, Public Speaking & Time Management courses, etc. 

    • Paycor LMS: assist with:

      • Compliance Design and Annual Training communications

      • Staff training development and implementation.

    • Assist the Corporate HR team in meeting the HR and customer service needs and of the organization.

    • Designing staff professional development plans in conjunction with the Director or OD for succession planning purposes. 

    • Assist the Director of OD in identifying high performers for succession planning and potential growth for leadership opportunities. 

    • The ability to travel 10-20% of the time; whether by car or airplane.

    • Other duties or tasks as assigned by your manager.

    Education and/or Experience

    BA/BS, 3-5 years Organizational Development field or a combination of the two. 

    • Broad knowledge of all aspects of the learning function; in-depth knowledge of core business functions, ability to plan work, manage tasks.

    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with a variety of cultures.

    • Encourages a learning culture, communicates the value of learning.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear what is being said and/or discussed. 

    • This position will frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, feel, handle, or write.

    • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself.

    • The physical ability to travel to program locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and operate office equipment.

    • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, equipment, tables, etc.
