About Our Speakers

Dr. Jimmy A. Nelson, Ph.D., CPTD, SHRM-SCP was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas with an older brother and two younger sisters.  After achieving his Bachelors Degree in Biology & Chemistry, he held several technical and managerial positions in the paint / chemical industry.  Then, in 1993, he made a radical change and began pursuing a career in the Learning & Organizational Development field.  

Dr. Jimmy holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Development & Training, a Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational Psychology, has taught as an adjunct instructor for Belmont, Davenport and Spalding Universities, is a "retired" Dale Carnegie® instructor, is a certified Franklin Covey® Instructor and achieved his CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) in 2010. He is the Past President of the Kentuckiana ATD Chapter, and was elected to serve on the ATD NAC (National Advisory Council) for the South region in 2013.  Dr. Jimmy is certified in D.i.S.C., DDI, Myers Briggs, Hogan, and Pi assessments, and is a recognized expert in conflict resolution and advanced teambuilding skills. 

Jimmy lives near Louisville, Kentucky and currently serves as a Board Member for Life Adventure Center and Volunteers of America.  In his personal life, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, remodeling houses, the beach, boating, Geocaching, and especially travel abroad.  He and his wife, Deborah, have three grown children and a beautiful grandchild - Melanie Elizabeth – who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  They also have an Olde English Pocket Beagle names Daniel Jackson.


Bill Willis has over 20 years’ experience in information technology with a focus on audit and process improvement.

He currently leads strategy and organizational effectiveness initiatives for a safety and security team within a Fortune 100 company.

He also volunteers time as a communications lead for a multi-generational network resource group, and with ATD Kentuckiana as VP of .Bill lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife, two kids, two dogs, two ferrets, and one hermit crab.
