    Baptist Health Floyd

    Creatively uses adult learning principles and project management skills to design and deliver engaging organization-wide education and training for professional development of Baptist Health Floyd employees and leadership.  Translates learning requirements into effective learning solutions and documentation. Serves as a resource regarding instructional design and delivery best practices, supportive media, learning management systems, authoring and web tools, and learning technology support.   

    Essential Job Functions:

    E-Learning Development (45%)

    • Develops E-Learning course content and support materials, including (but not limited to) participant guides, business process flows, work instructions, exercises, simulations, micro-learning, quick references, job aids, tests/post-tests, surveys, instructor guides, and graphic representations.
    • Uploads, tests and maintains content to an LMS.
    • Conducts stakeholder and SME interviews to determine, recommend and document training needs and projects.
    • Effectively uses multiple learning activity types throughout curriculum, including slides, voiceovers, video, whiteboard, polls or surveys, chat rooms or conference calls, virtual breakouts, interactive discussion, application sharing and multimedia effectively.
    • Develops methods of program evaluation utilizing surveys, evaluations and other methods of feedback.  Analyzes evaluations and alters online training as needed.
    • Ensures the consistency, integrity and conformity of all published learning content. 
    • Recommends innovative ways to integrate technology into instructional processes and move the organization forward in e-learning and other blended learning modalities.

    Technical Support (25%)

    • Supports LMS Specialist with administration of the learning management system, including course enrollments, compliance, site surveys by regulatory agencies, end of year reports, and general troubleshooting.
    • Assesses technological resources for virtual classroom, synchronous online training, virtual instructor led training and webinars in collaboration with ITS.
    • Works proactively to maintain, troubleshoot, and connect technical equipment in training rooms, including projectors, training computers, conference devices, and A/V systems.
    • Provides A/V system support for training sessions and classes, including a multi-room A/V system.
    • Receives and responds to ITS Help Tickets for HRD-specific calls.
    • Serves as HRD liaison to Intranet Team, serving as content Editor for HRD Intranet pages and provides technical support to HRD content editors as needed.
    • Serves as Scrolling Monitor administrator, using Avelin composer system
    • Provides support as needed for online forms and surveys.
    • Supports video content management.

    Training Delivery (15%)

    • Develops and delivers curriculum as identified through needs assessments and requests from leadership.
    • Assists in department-specific training, identifying departmental needs and providing resources and possible solutions.
    • Monitors class evaluation results of courses and adjusts presentations as needed. 
    • Identifies skills or knowledge gaps and collaborates with leadership to implement effective strategies to close learning gaps.
    • Assists in developing and interpreting needs assessments and makes recommendations based on results.

    Organizational/System Support (10%)

    • Assists in evaluation and testing of new software releases and organizational systems.
    • Supports training of new software and systems as part of implementation team.
    • Serves on organizational/system committees as required.

    Other duties as assigned (5%)


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, E-Learning, Education or related field, or 5+ years equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
    • 3 years of documented, formalized experience in instructional design and development


    • Proficient in office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Proficient in instructional authoring tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, Camtasia)
    • Advanced knowledge of needs analysis/assessment and course evaluation
    • Advanced knowledge of adult learning and instructional design theory, principles, and practice
    • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g., HealthStream, Saba)
    • Knowledge of graphic and web design (SharePoint experience a plus)
    • Working experience in using and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including proven effective and engaging presentation skills
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once
    • A record of generating ideas, proposing and implementing creative digital solutions and showing results
