MANAGING (AND SURVIVING) CHANGE

The philosopher said it and we know it: the only constant in life is change. Sometimes we deal with it, and sometimes we are expected to lead it. But what are the strategies, when everyone tends to deal with change and disruption on a personal level? Join us as we discuss the phases of change, how we can approach it individually, and how we can lead others through it to an improved process or organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the basic stages of well-managed change initiatives
  • Recognize individual differences in change acceptance
  • Identify change risk factors
  • Recognize and evaluate change management techniques you can use

Presenter

Patsy Carruthers, MA Ed. is Director of University of Kentucky’s Academic Technology Group. She is all about change. In her early career, she spent several years as a journalist and editor, and later she taught high school English and journalism. In 1997, Patsy left the classroom to work for public television in Cincinnati, where she produced educational projects and media for state, local and national distribution. Since joining UK in 2007, Patsy has managed staff that support teaching tools and resources, and has engaged in change management as a way of life.
