February Chapter Meeting

“Major Tom to Mission Control, are we reaching….” Ever want to fly to the Moon? OR send people to the Moon? It happens at The Challenger Center – Louisville, we give students of the universe a hands-on experience – engaging them in all areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through simulated space missions.

Our presentation is interactive. Come fly with us on February 24, 2015. ATD will fly a modified version of Mission: Return to the Moon. All crew to report promptly by 17:00 (12:00 GMT) or 5:00 p.m. EST

Speaker: Lt. Colonel Will Vander Meer, USMC Retired, is a native Kentuckian hailing from Frankfort. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. From there he served for 22 years in the United States Marine Corp, and then as NJROTC and Magnet Coordinator at the Academy @Shawnee for 16 years.
Currently, he has taken on the role as Acting Director for the Challenger Center Louisville, since opening on January 28, 2011.

A trip to the Challenger Learning Center brings classroom lessons to life. The simulated environment is created from computer technology, real science data, and hands-on activities. The group will fly a modified mission: Return to the Moon. You will experience team collaboration, critical thinking and STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math) career paths.

Join us for this fun, interactive session and see if this can spark some ideas for this type of training style in your organization.
